Read a Nutrition Facts label and place each % Daily Value on the LOW–MIDDLE–HIGH meter.
Daily Value Meter puts each nutrient from a real-style Nutrition Facts label onto a 0–40% meter with three zones: LOW is 5% or less, MIDDLE is in between, and HIGH is 20% or more. Kids drag the highlighted nutrient's chip to its % Daily Value, sort chips into LOW and HIGH bins, and sort nutrients into "get MORE of" (fiber, vitamin D, calcium, iron, potassium) and "get LESS of" (saturated fat, sodium, added sugars). At the top levels they work out %DV themselves as amount ÷ Daily Value × 100, for one serving and then two. Every miss names the rule, such as "15% is more than 5% but less than 20% — that is the MIDDLE zone". Best for Grades 3–6.
