Dial a scale factor and drag the centre of dilation, chain 90° rotations and slides, and solve similar-triangle sides by ratio until the figure docks onto its ghost image.
A triangle sits on a coordinate grid with its target image drawn as a ghost; the player dials the scale factor k and drags the centre of dilation (rays through the vertices show the construction), chains 90° rotations about the origin, unit slides and dilations until the live figure lands on the ghost, and dials the missing side of a similar triangle from the ratio of a labelled pair. It drills dilations and rigid motions on the coordinate plane, sequences of transformations, and similarity via scale factor (8.G.1–4), and targets the misconception that k can be read from one vertex alone or that a slide can substitute for a rotation. Best for Grades 7–8.

What math does Dilation Dock practice? Dilation Dock practices Transformations, Dilations, Rotations, Similarity.
What grade is Dilation Dock for? Dilation Dock is built for Grade 8 (ages 13–14). It sits in the Geometry & Shapes strand, and it ramps across 8 levels so younger or older players find their own pace.
How do you play Dilation Dock? Dial a scale factor and drag the centre of dilation, chain 90° rotations and slides, and solve similar-triangle sides by ratio until the figure docks onto its ghost image.
Is Dilation Dock free to play? Yes. Dilation Dock is free, with no ads and no sign-up, and it runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
