Percent Discount Practice
Percent discount practice means finding the sale price, the amount saved and the better deal. These games suit roughly grades 5 to 8 and are free to play with no sign-up and no ads.
They build from simple percents of a price to percent change, multipliers and comparing unit prices.

- Price DetectiveGrades 3–5One line on the receipt is wrong — find it! Check each price with your magnifying glass and tap the culprit.
- Multiplier ChainGrades 7–8Tap multiplier chips onto a price bar — 20% off then 8% tax is ×0.8 ×1.08 — dial the single percent a chain equals, and chain ÷ chips to walk a final price back to the original.
Common Questions
How do you find the sale price after a percent discount?
Two ways. Find the discount (price times the percent) and subtract it. Or multiply by what is left: a 25 percent discount leaves 75 percent, so the sale price is the price times 0.75. For quick mental math, find 10 percent first and build up from it.
What is the difference between amount saved and sale price?
The amount saved is how much comes off, such as 6 dollars off a 24 dollar item. The sale price is what you pay after that, 18 dollars. Many mistakes come from answering one when the question asks for the other, so underline what is asked.
How do you compare two deals?
Convert both to the same measure. Compare the final prices, or the price per unit (per ounce, per item). A bigger percent off a higher starting price is not always cheaper, which is what the best buy games practice.
What grade learns percent discounts?
Percents are introduced in grade 5 or 6, and discounts, tax and percent change are standard in grades 6 to 8. The card for each game shows its grade range.
Are these percent games free?
Yes. They are free with no ads, no in-app purchases and no sign-up.
